Evercade is bringing back its highly anticipated Game of the Month feature starting from today! For those unfamiliar with this feature, it provides Evercade users with one free game every month from an indie developer, allowing Evercade gamers to try out a new title every month!  Users can enjoy these full games for free for a limited time until the next Game of the Month update is available. Like last year, all of these games will be available to purchase as part of the Indie Heroes Collection 3, set to release in February 2024.

The Game of the Month feature is time-limited, with games only available for approximately one month until the next game is added. We don’t want to make it too easy for you however and all save game data for previous games will be deleted to make way for the new addition, allowing you to start fresh when the physical collection becomes available. With nine games being made available between now and December 2023, there’s plenty of opportunity to discover new favorites.

What’s even more exciting is that, for the first time, the Game of the Month feature will be available on the go with the Evercade EXP handheld console as well as the Evercade VS. So many Evercade users can also take advantage of this feature thanks to the console’s built-in WiFi.

The first game available as part of this revived Game of the Month feature is a great new arcade title that has received plaudits throughout the retro gaming community in Donut Dodo. Not only is this amazing title a great hark back to the arcade games of old, it is a natively supported game as well using the Godot engine. Instantly replayable, this high-score chasing donut adventure is available to download right now via your Evercade VS and Evercade EXP update. You’ll find it under the respective VS and EXP menu screen, where you previously found the “Coming Soon” bar.

The Game of the Month feature was an incredibly popular feature last year and it’s another great opportunity for Evercade users to discover and try new games from indie developers. We’ll be back next month with another game and you’ll be hearing a lot more about our indie game lineup for Evercade in a special presentation later this year.
